HS-Spirit
HS-Spirit
Sion Medical has developed an antibacterial hydrogel dressing to prevent post‑surgical infection. HS‑Spirit is an antibacterial barrier layer, intended to create an ideal wound environment and promote the healing of acute and chronic wounds.
A study published in the Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, in collaboration with the Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit at Sheba Medical Center, evaluated the use of HS-Spirit Hydrogel Dressing in patients following open-heart surgery.
During a 6-week follow-up period, the study demonstrated a favorable safety profile, with no adverse events or mortality. In addition, the study’s findings in post-operative wound infection prevention were lower compared with DSWI rates previously reported in the
scientific literature.
The study concluded that HS-Spirit demonstrated a favorable safety profile and has the potential to be integrated into existing postoperative infection-prevention protocols.
